How to Keep Your Vision in Front of You and Stay Focused on God's Purpose for Your Life

Stay focused on God's purpose by trusting His plan, setting clear goals, and continually seeking His guidance.

It is easy to get discouraged when the journey toward our dreams seems long and difficult. The road may seem full of obstacles, and the mountain of challenges can feel insurmountable. However, in these moments of doubt, it is essential to keep our vision in front of us, just as Zerubbabel did when rebuilding the temple. The story of Zerubbabel in the book of Zechariah provides us with a powerful example of perseverance, faith, and the importance of keeping the end goal in sight. When faced with delays and opposition, Zerubbabel was reminded by the prophet Zechariah that God had not forgotten His promises and that the task would be completed. By holding onto his vision and trusting in God's faithfulness, Zerubbabel found the strength to continue.

In the book of Zechariah, we see how Zerubbabel had laid the foundation of the temple, but he was stopped in his tracks when his enemies rose up against him. For ten years, no work was done on the temple, and it must have seemed like an impossible task to complete. The mountain before him must have appeared mighty and overwhelming. Yet God sent Zechariah to encourage Zerubbabel, assuring him that the mountain would be made level and the capstone would be placed. Zechariah 4:7 says, “What are you, mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground. Then he will bring out the capstone to shouts of ‘God bless it! God bless it!’” This verse reminds us that no matter how insurmountable the challenges we face may seem, God is always at work behind the scenes, preparing the way for us to succeed.

When we face our own "mountains," it is vital to keep the vision of what God has promised us before our eyes. It might be a vision of healing, provision, or success in our endeavors. Just like Zerubbabel, we must hold onto the promises of God, even when circumstances tell us otherwise. One of the ways to keep our vision alive is by surrounding ourselves with reminders of that vision. It may be a scripture, a picture, or a symbolic object that represents what we are believing God for. Every time we see it, it can serve as a reminder of God’s faithfulness and the certainty that He will bring our dreams to fruition.

Keeping the vision before us is not just about maintaining hope; it is also about remaining focused. It is easy to become distracted by the challenges and difficulties that arise, but if we keep our eyes fixed on the promise, we will stay on the path toward our goals. In the book of Hebrews, we are told to "lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us" (Hebrews 12:1). By setting aside distractions and focusing on the vision, we are positioning ourselves to see the fulfillment of God's promises in our lives.

In Zechariah's story, God assured Zerubbabel that the work He started would be completed, despite the setbacks. Similarly, when we face difficulties in our own lives, we can trust that God is faithful to finish the work He has started in us. Philippians 1:6 tells us, “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Even when we feel like giving up or when it seems like nothing is happening, we can trust that God is still at work. His timing is perfect, and He will bring us through to the end, no matter how long the journey may seem.

There are times in life when the road gets tough, and we may wonder if the dream God has given us will ever come to pass. It is during these moments that we must remember that God's plans for us are bigger than the obstacles we face. He has already gone before us and made a way where there seems to be no way. As we keep our vision in front of us, we remind ourselves that God is working on our behalf, and He is preparing us for the victory that lies ahead.

When you feel discouraged, look to the promises of God. Fill your heart with the truth that He is faithful and will never leave you. Just as He told Zerubbabel that the mountain would be leveled, He will remove the obstacles in your life that seem impossible. Keep moving forward, even if it’s one small step at a time, and trust that God is leading you to your destination.

It’s important to remember that vision is not just about seeing the end result but also about seeing what God is doing in you along the way. God uses every step, every challenge, and every season to mold us into who He created us to be. It may not always be easy, but each step brings us closer to the purpose He has for us. As we trust Him and keep the vision in front of us, we will see His plan unfold in our lives in ways that we could not have imagined.

The key to holding onto your vision is to never lose sight of the fact that God is in control. Even when things don’t go according to our plans, He is still at work. Trust in His timing, trust in His process, and trust in His ability to finish what He has started. When we keep our vision in front of us, we are declaring our faith in God’s promises. We are acknowledging that He is able to bring to pass everything He has spoken over our lives.

As we keep our vision in front of us, let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not faint (Galatians 6:9). God’s promises are sure, and His faithfulness endures forever. The work He has begun in you will be brought to completion, and His glory will be revealed through your life.

In your journey of faith, remember the words of Zechariah 4:7: “What are you, mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground.” No matter what obstacles you face, God has already prepared a way for you. Keep your vision in front of you, and know that with God, all things are possible.

Stay in faith, keep your eyes on the promise, and trust that God will bring your dreams to pass. He is faithful to complete the work He has begun in you. You may not see the results today, but trust that He is moving on your behalf. Your vision is not only a hope for the future but a testament to God's faithfulness in the present. Keep your eyes on Him, and He will see you through every mountain, bringing your dreams into reality.

God bless you as you keep your vision before you and walk in faith toward the fulfillment of His promises in your life.
